Hello, Poketo

Um, new year's resolutions are meant to be broken, right? One of my resolutions this year was (er, is) to blog at least once a week. It was pretty easy to keep that up, but I must admit I've lost some steam in recent days weeks. As much as I'd like to have consistent posts, the one blogging rule I have for myself is to only post things that excite me. Quality over quantity, right? (This doesn't always hold true for me when it comes to food, though. I blame my buffet-loving dad. I just can't get down with pretentious portions...)

My rule trumped my resolution, but I'm back to share some exciting news. I got a job with Poketo! They're opening their very first brick-and-mortar store in the downtown arts district, right around the corner from Wurstk├╝che. I've been following them for so long, it's cool to say that I work with them now! I guess today was my first official day on the job. Highlight of the day? Accompanying my boss on a fun little meeting at Clare Vivier's Echo Park studio. FINE leather goodz, folks.

Hopefully I'll gain some midyear momentum so I can post more frequently on this thing. But in the indefinite meanwhile, be sure to check out the Poketo store. Soft opening is happening this Saturday, June 23, from 11-7. Address is 820 East 3rd Street. The store looks amazing and there are many goods to be bought!

Moonrise Kingdom

There are certain films that have you leaving the theatre enchanted. Sweet, funny, charming, sad, endearing -- Moonrise Kingdom is definitely one of those films. I absolutely loved it. The rave reviews (and even the fact that Jason Schwartzman had a cameo-worthy length in screen time) didn't ruin it for me! Please do yourself a favor and go see this movie.

P.S. Calling it now: The wardrobing of this film will likely inspire many a hipster's Halloween costume this fall.
